Yes, Djakout #1 is on the rise again, and I, for one, am excited
to be here so I can witness the rebirth of the Tiger. And I am
amazed to see how well received the band is, from all age groups,
each time I see them perform.
With the Pwofite album, Djakout #1 is pure Fire. You could hear
and make sense of the lyrics. The content of the songs came from the
heart. There was great pride in expression, and a great respect for
dignity.
As a dedicated member of the Haitian music industry, I have had
the pleasure of watching Djokout #1 performing for the first time
since the change. Djakout #1 began to express itself in a way that
had to challenge all structure and boundaries. I believe Djakout #1
had to grow and test the waters before it could even attempt to wash
back to shore. I now believe Djakout #1 has come full circle with the
Pwofite Album.
Today, As I look into the eyes of our youth, I see more hope that
I have seen in years for the Haitian Music Industry. They are, once
again, yearning to cast the negative shadows aside in search of
something more. They, and we, have begun the internal process of
seeking solutions.
Our values are changing and getting stronger again. We are
beginning to realize that we are responsible for what we do or do not
have. Even though we have the luxury of technology, we are also
beginning to appreciate the history of our music when life was simple
and common respect was assumed.
As a reflection of those changes, there is a mini-ripple of
performers surfacing. Several Haitian bands are re-introducing kompa
direct style songs that are suddenly being recognized and
re-discovered as treasures that will never die. Great songs that
make sense, and move you emotionally, with great beats by real
musicians.
I am proud to be a fan of the Haitian Music and I have finally
stopped lamenting in the past I never had because it's finally here.
Don't you know that this is the best album out.
